AtE Arc 3: The Magical Girl’s Iron Hammer – Chapter 5
Ever since I was young, I was unlucky.
Bad men, and occasionally women, would call out to me, and I would almost be kidnapped. A small consolation would be that nothing definite ever happened. But, it was just that. There were countless times when things were stopped just at the last moment.
I gave up. Without fighting against the fear, I gave up, and ran away. I was always saved. That’s why it was alright. Like that, I ran away from the feelings of the people who saved me, and of those who watched over me.
But…but you know, Mitsukasa-sensei.
Ever since I met you, I decided to fight.
「Kihi, as expected of you, partner. You were able to get away so easily from that freaking scary old hag.」
『It’s fine, so hurry up and put a mark. It’s your specialty right? Partner.』
「Hihi, got it~」
Deep within the forest. In between the thick foliage of the trees.
The big, black wolf, and that perverted man.
Just based on my observational ability that had been refined to the point that it was sad, I understood what was about to happen to me.
「【Open・Form・Attack Barrel・Arm・Flat Field・Ignition】」
Seeing me put up a flat, thin barrier in front of myself, the man sneered.
Holding a stun gun as he walked towards me, the man’s smiling face was the same as that of the pervert’s. He was a man who would take pleasure in attacking me after rendering my resistance futile.
「Just what can such a flimsy barrier do? Hehihi, why don’cha give up?」
「——won’t.」
「Haa?」
「I won’t give up. No matter what happens……!」
Mitsukasa-sensei, did you know?
You were the only one who has ever interacted with me without treating me as a burden, even though I am always being attacked.
I have become so good at seeing through people’s emotions to the point where even I am sick of it. You were the only one, who worked to the bone to help me, purely “for my sake”.
That is why I decided.
I will be like you, someone who can help others from the bottom of her heart!
「Specially from my cooperation with Sensei——【Change・Form・Control Barrel・Plus・Duration・Ignition】!!」

Even if it is a spell made up of numerous basic ones, it is impossible to make a brand new original spell. That is common knowledge, and even an ESPer would know that.

Having confirmed that I was only proficient in Support-type spells, this was my sole attack method that Mitsukasa-sensei proposed to me!

I rotated the barrier, and parried the man’s raised claws.
My ability to observe the inner workings of other people, and the spell that I learned together with the “Magical Girl” I admired, came together in a strangely fitting manner.

The moment he attacked and relaxed slightly, I reflected the power back.
In doing so, the man was repelled, following the vector of his own attack.

Raising the barrier as it continued spinning, I leapt on his raised leg and struck it.
Repel.

Reflect.
Hit back.
Parry.
Dodge.

I swung the “shield” down on his head.
「GYAIIIN!?」
The man cowered.
His eyes that glared at me were filled with anger.
「Haa, haa, haa……even a mouse will bite a cat. I won’t let my heart be violated by someone like you……!」
「Kihi, is that so, I see! Then I’ll let it taste plenty of despair until it breaks! Partner!」
『It’s all cause you said not to interfere……well, whatever. Become fear’s nourishment.』
The wolf merged together with the man.
It was a scene that appeared as if he himself was becoming a wolf, and was extremely unsettling.
『This is our true form. A “Demon・Transer”』
A bipedal wolf that was darker than darkness.
Its figure was just like a “werewolf” from legend.
『Now, despair.』
I put my raised hands together, and moved the barrier.
「Eh?」
But for some reason, the wolfman’s figure disappeared, and stole behind me.
「Kya—」
The back of my uniform was sliced up.
I reflexively let out a scream at the sudden stabbing pain, and before I could even register it the injury, my thinly sliced thighs oozed with blood.
『Your eyes can’t keep up right? Combining together with demon, is just that sort of thing. I’ve marked the ones whose uniforms I’ve sliced up until now with the fear implanted into them. After I finish playing with you, I’ll let those little bitches who thought they got away have a good taste too.』
The man, sneering with a warped smile, was the spitting image of a monster.
This might be a hopeless situation. But, even so.
「I won’t give up. I decided to fight!」
『Hah, then keep on resisting until the end for me——!』
I won’t give up.
No matter what happens, I absolutely won’t!
「【Roll】——kyaa-!?」
『Kihi, with this that troublesome barrier is done for! So, watcha gonna do next? Though I don’t plan on givin’ ya the free time to do anything!!』
The barrier was sliced up.
Since my hands were raised, the part of the uniform around my belly was cut open.
My cheek was sliced and blood soiled my face.
It hurts, it hurts, it hurts, but-!
「I…don’t wanna…give up!」
『HIHIHIHIHIHIHIHIHIHI-』
I raised my hands above my head.
And then——
「You’ve done a good job holding on-wan.」
——a voice reverberated.
